A: No, you shouldn't wait. The windshield serves as an important structural element of your car. If the structural integrity of your windshield is weakened due to untended damage, it will not provide optimal protection in an accident.

Q. What's the difference between glass in a windshield and other window glass?

A: Auto glass is designed for optimum safety in the event of a crash. Windshields are made of laminated safety glass. Laminated safety glass is made from two pieces of glass with a layer of vinyl sandwiched in between. It will stay intact in a collision. The side and rear windows are made of tempered glass. Tempered glass has been treated to make it much stronger than other glass of the same thickness. If it breaks, it is designed to shatter into small pieces.
